Kuala Lumpur πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ

Kuala Lumpur is one of the fastest-growing cities in Asia. Its greatest population explosion occurred in the early 20th century, with the rise of the rubber industry. Well, normally you would associate rubbers with a DECREASE in population, but that’s a different kind of rubber.

That you wear! With a prayer! That it won’t tear!

Kuala Lumpur is also one of the world’s top cities for tourism and shopping. It has three of the world’s ten largest shopping malls. Altogether there are 66 shopping malls, and shopping accounts for more than 20 per cent of tourism revenue in Malaysia. Plus the Malaysian government organizes mega sale events for shopping three times a year; in March, May and December; and all shopping malls are expected to participate. I’ve heard of the concept of shop till you drop, but this seems to be a case of shop and never stop!

So Kuala Lumpur is a popular and prestigious place, and never could it be said that the city’s name is mud, so to speak. Then again, the name Kuala Lumpur actually means ‘muddy confluence’, and the word Lumpur literally does mean mud. But of course that’s just a coincidence, and has nothing to do with the name of a place or person FIGURATIVELY being mud, in the sense of being discredited or disgraced. Nothing like that!
